Once a novelty for the wealthy and tech-savvy, the “smart” home is now becoming mainstream. New devices and the proliferation of in-home Wi-Fi are allowing more consumers to remotely connect to their homes like never before. With the aid of a smartphone app, we can control lights, lock doors, adjust the thermostat, and arm or disarm a home security system. So how can marketers help take this new “smart” home to new levels of acceptance and sophistication?
